M.P. O'Connor, rider of Major Barry, trained by Conor Houlihan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into the riders first and second approach to the starter, where it appeared some of the riders came forward before the starters flag was dropped resulting in a false start on both occasions. Evidence was heard from S. Ewing, Niall Moore and J C Canavan. S Ewing stated that his mount was being difficult possibly as a result of the blinkers and he did his best to control it and comply with the starter. J C Canavan stated that he received a bump from behind which carried him forward and he did his best to control it. Niall Moore stated that his mount is well experienced and was wearing head gear and was less than straight forward to control down at the start. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that S Ewing, Niall Moore and J C Canavan were in breach of Rule 208(iii)(b)(putting a horse into a trot or a canter with a view to taken any advantage before the race is started). Having taken all riders's clean records in this regard into account, they suspended each rider for one raceday.
